Senior Data Engineer - Build a Data Platform for Intelligent Automation
Staria seeks a Senior Data Engineer in Helsinki to take end-to-end ownership of a new data platform and turn it into a production-grade foundation for AI and services.
Do you want to build a data platform from the ground up and see it in real use across teams and services? Would you like to own a data foundation end-to-end, powering AI, integrations, and business-critical services across multiple countries? And what if your work became a key part of how an entire company uses data?
We are now looking for a Senior Data Engineer in Helsinki to take ownership of our Data Fabric and build it into a production-grade platform. This is a new role in a newly built setup, where AI, integrations, and automation capabilities are brought together and now need a strong data foundation to support them.
What it's all about
At Staria, we help international growth companies manage their finances more effectively by combining accounting services, ERP systems, and data-driven solutions. Our goal is to make complex financial operations work smoothly across countries and systems.
The Intelligent Automation team is at the center of how we build that. The team brings together AI, ML, RPA and integration capabilities to automate and improve financial processes at scale. Alongside the IA team, our Naviloq Data team builds semantic data models that transforms raw client data into a structured, governed representation of financial reality across ERPs and countries.
This role sits in the IA team and is the bridge between these worlds. You own the data platform that ties it all together: ensuring Naviloq's semantic data flows are integrated into the broader data ecosystem, building data pipelines for sources and services that live outside the semantic model, and creating the data services and infrastructure that the rest of the team depends on.
This is not an internal reporting setup. It is a core platform that directly impacts how our services run and how our customers operate.
How you'll make a difference
In this role, you are the person who makes the data platform real. You will not just design architecture but build it, run it, and evolve it in production. Your work is organized around three core responsibilities:
Data Pipelines & Platform
You own the overall data flow architecture. Our Naviloq Data team builds data flows into the semantic model, but you are responsible for how those flows integrate into the broader platform — and for building the pipelines that fall outside the semantic model entirely. As our service portfolio grows, new data sources and new types of data services will emerge, and the platform needs to accommodate them without becoming fragile or unmanageable.
In practice, this means designing and building a scalable Data Fabric in Azure using tools like ADF, Databricks, ADLS, and SQL. You will orchestrate data flows across multiple sources and destinations, implement change data capture and temporal models where needed, and build a platform architecture that supports onboarding new customers and new data services without custom pipelines every time.
Data Services
On top of the data platform, you build services that create direct business value. The first and most critical of these is automated data quality validation and anomaly detection — a service layer that proactively catches issues in production-critical financial data before they reach customers or downstream processes.
This means building validation rules that reflect real business logic across countries and ERP environments, implementing anomaly detection on key data flows to flag unexpected patterns early, and ensuring data lineage so that business-critical data is auditable and traceable. Some of these services will consume data from the Naviloq semantic model; others will work with data sources outside it. Over time, the range of data services will grow, and you will play a central role in shaping what gets built and how.
IA Team Data Enablement
Your third responsibility is making sure the rest of the IA team — AI developers, RPA specialists, and integration engineers — have reliable, governed access to the data they need. AI models need curated training data and a path to return predictions back into the platform. RPA processes need trustworthy data inputs. Integrations need consistent, validated data flows between systems.
You are the person who makes this work in practice: defining how data is served to different consumers, ensuring quality and freshness standards are met, and building the interfaces that allow the team to move fast without compromising data governance.
How it all connects
You won't tackle all three areas from day one, we'll prioritize together based on where the biggest impact is. Across all of them, you will work closely with AI developers, integration specialists, RPA developers, the Naviloq Data team, and product stakeholders. Most of your time will be spent building, testing, and deploying — this is a hands-on role.
The practical stuff
We are seeking candidates based in the Helsinki area. Staria's hybrid work model offers the best of both worlds: a modern office in the heart of Helsinki, combined with the flexibility to work remotely. To ensure smooth collaboration with your team and stakeholders, we hope you're able to spend at least a few days per week at the office on average.
Our base salary range for this role is 6300–7800 €/month depending on your background and scope of the role. The holiday bonus is distributed evenly across your monthly pay, so it's part of your regular salary.
What helps you thrive in this role
This role is a great fit for you if you bring:
a strong hands-on mindset: you enjoy building data platforms yourself, not just designing them
solid experience (+5 years) in data engineering, including several years working with Azure data platforms
strong SQL and Python or PySpark skills at production level
experience designing data architectures that integrate multiple data sources and serve multiple consumers — not just a single analytics use case
practical knowledge of modern data modeling such as CDC, slowly changing dimensions, and temporal models
experience building data quality frameworks, validation pipelines, or anomaly detection in production environments
an understanding of semantic data models and how to build services and pipelines that consume and extend them
familiarity with CI/CD practices for data solutions
the ability to work in a cross-functional team alongside AI, RPA, and integration specialists, and to communicate technical decisions clearly to different stakeholders
fluency in English — Finnish skills are a plus
You'll likely enjoy this role if you're looking for broad ownership and are comfortable shaping both the problem and the solution in a small team. You won't get a ready-made blueprint, but you will get the space to build and move things forward.
