Head of Intelligent Automation
Staria seeks a hands-on Head of Intelligent Automation in Helsinki to lead a cross‑functional team, shape AI, integration and data, and deliver business‑critical solutions.
Do you enjoy building real solutions instead of talking about them? Would you like to lead a team while still staying close to the technology and making hands-on design decisions? What if you could shape how AI, automation, and data are used across an entire company and see the results in everyday business?
We are now looking for a Head of Intelligent Automation in Helsinki to lead a newly formed team. This is a new role in a newly built setup; we’ve reorganized our development and brought together AI, integration, and automation expertise into one team, and now need someone to take it forward.
What it’s all about
At Staria, we help international growth companies manage their finances more effectively by combining accounting services, ERP systems, and data-driven solutions. Our goal is to make complex financial operations work smoothly across countries and systems.
The Intelligent Automation team is at the core of how we build that.
This team develops solutions across AI, automation, integrations, and data, used across all our business units. The work directly impacts how our services are delivered and how our customers operate. This means building solutions that directly affect how finance operations run in dozens of countries — not internal tools, but business-critical capabilities.
How you’ll make a difference
In this role, you combine leadership with hands-on work. You won’t just guide the work, but step in and build the most critical parts yourself when needed. Your role is to ensure that what gets planned actually works in practice.
Your team brings together AI developers, integration specialists, data engineer and automation experts. They are strong in their own domains and expect clear direction and technical credibility from their lead.
You will work closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders who define what is needed, while your team defines how it is built.
Your role is to make sure that what gets planned actually works in practice. You will:
actively contribute to hands-on development, especially in prototyping, architecture design, and the most critical parts of solution delivery
turn ideas into working prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate what actually works
lead a team of 6 developers and domain specialists in their daily work
translate business needs into concrete, buildable technical solutions
prioritize work together with Product Owners and ensure the team delivers consistently in sprints
present ideas as working demos and make them understandable for business stakeholders
act as the technical lead in pilots, ensuring solutions are delivered with clarity, quality, and on time
The practical stuff
We are seeking candidates based in the Helsinki area. Staria’s hybrid work model offers the best of both worlds: a modern office in the heart of Helsinki, combined with the flexibility to work remotely. To ensure smooth collaboration with your team and stakeholders, we hope you’re able to spend at least a few days per week at the office on average.
Our base salary range for this role is €7500-9000/month, depending on your background. The holiday bonus is distributed evenly across your monthly pay, so it’s part of your regular salary.
What helps you thrive in this role
This role is a great fit for you if you bring:
A hands-on approach to architecture and development. You are used to designing and building solutions yourself, not just directing others.
Hands-on experience across areas such as AI development (ML models and AI features), RPA, data architecture and master data, integrations (iPaaS/APIs), and AI connectivity (MCP + CLI), with strong hands-on expertise in at least two areas and the ability to lead, guide, and review work across the others.
Experience leading a development team in an agile environment, with the ability to balance your own technical work with people leadership
Experience working in a setup where development serves business stakeholders (internal or external), with a clear understanding of how Product Owners and development teams work together
The ability to turn technology into business value: you can present working solutions and demos to business leaders and explain their impact in concrete terms
You are comfortable working in a role where expectations are high and not everything is defined yet. You help create structure, not wait for it.
Fluency in English. Finnish skills are a big plus.
Why join us

Flexibility is part of our DNA. In our hybrid model you can work from home, our central Helsinki office, or even abroad from time to time.
While we value flexible remote work, we also prioritize in-person connections: onboarding and team days, office breakfasts, and shared events bring us together on a regular basis.
